A non-profit organisation focusing on empowering women around the world by fighting for an end to gender-based violence and discrimination.
ABOUT US
We work on preventative as well as protective solutions that are safe, scalable and sustainable.
We are technology-enabled, education-focused and community-driven. We know that in order to really make an impact in combating gender-based violence around the world, we need to tackle the ingrained systemic normatives that cause it.
WHAT WE DO
OUR PROJECTS
YOUR DONATIONS SAVE LIVES
Gender-based violence (GBV) - including physical, sexual, emoitonal,
physchological and domestic abuse - is a serious human rights
violation that disproportionately affects girls and women. Femicide is
five times higher in South Africa than the global average, with South
Africa having the fourth-highest female interpersonal violence death
rate out of the 183 countries listed by the World Health Organisation in
2016. The statistics tell us that every three hours, a woman is raped, and
every half an hour, a woman doesn’t make it.
Your generosity can change the world. Thanks to the generous
support of donors like you, Future Females Foundation is able to work
on preventative as well as empowering solutions that are safe, scalable
and sustainable.
Funds that go towards our Prevention Pillar include running our Male Youth Empowerment Programme and our Consent Workshop Series.
Here, we are focused on making SA a safer place for women and girls, and, in the long-term, decreasing the statistics of gender-based violence in the
country through education.
Funds that go towards our Empowerment Pillar include running the Financial Independence Programme and the sewing and beadwork skills development programme for female victims of GBV. This is to empower survivors of GBV to upskill and educate themselves, become financially independent through employment or entrepreneurship, and leave abusive households or relationships. In our Empowerment Programmes, survivors also get the trauma counselling that they need to become inspired and motivated again.
On behalf of the Future Females Foundation staff, board, volunteers, partners and beneficiaries, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your
belief and investment in combating gender-based violence in South Africa. Your ongoing support is helping make the country a better and safer place for women and girls.
